沙滩上站着两个女孩。正在打棒球的人们和足球。自行车专用道和供汽车穿行而过的神社牌坊。像模型般小巧玲珑的独幢楼房。空中几乎没有什么电线，抬头便能看到蔚蓝辽阔的天空。据说在再开发时电线都被埋到了地下。
小城西北部还残留着好几座没被拆毁的输电线塔。在高中教室里听人说，有个男人住在其中的一座铁塔里，一开始还以为只是谣言而已，但并非如此。用双筒望远镜远远地了瞭望那座传说中的铁塔，确实能看到有一个男人生活在里面。离地面足足有数十米高的钢架上挂着安全炉和煎国锅，还有晒着的被子。晾衣绳系在铁塔的梁脊间，上面晾着洗过的衣服。那个男人灵巧地走在钢架狭窄的支架上，设下陷阱捕捉麻雀，拔了翅膀烤来吃。他已经好几个月寸步未离铁架了，但好像也并没有完全与外界失去联系。如果带些点心和调料给他，他会很高兴地跟你海阔天空地神侃上好一阵子。不知从何时起，小镇的人们都管窝在铁塔里白肯外出的他叫做铁塔男了。
“不离开铁塔生活下去真的可能吗？”
双叶千帆向学长问道。学长边走边回答道：
“在这座镇上，曾经有个女人被夹在大楼中间，就那么整整生活了一年。所以，就算有从来不出铁塔的男人也没什么不可思议的。”
千帆不知道学长说的是真事，还是仅仅只是都市传说而已。
毕业典礼的那个晚上，双叶千帆杀了人。
